It’s been 15 years since Aaliyah Haughton’s unexpected passing (Aug. 25). Within that time span, her music has continued to serve as an inspiration and catalyst for other artists’ careers. The epitome of sticking true to the real you, Aaliyah made sure that her opinions on her career mattered without compromise for the sake of success, leading her to be one of the few authentic and relatable entertainers in the industry. With three solid and genre-defying albums immortalized in her discography, the Detroit native aimed to elevate her sound with each full-length project, leading you to wonder what would’ve been next for the famed singer.
Throughout the week, we’ll publish stories which you’ll be able to find on this page, providing in-depth recollections of those who’ve worked closely with Aaliyah, from her teenage years to stepping into her womanhood. Fifteen years later, she’s still one in a million.

Comedian Ali Baba shared the photo below showing some of his pet dogs and revealed that he named them after different world leaders (Both past & present).
Ali Baba claims that former Nigerian President Obasanjo, was aware and impressed that he had a dog named after him.
    Read below.

My dogs and I back in the day. Must have had like 12 at a particular point in time. Interesting time.
That time I mean. I had traveled and returned at night, but was too tired to relate with them. OBJ, the big Alsatian was the head of the pack.
Then Obama was the big black and white Great Dane, the Alsatian on the bummer was Thatcher.
Thatcher must have given me like 18 puppies. In her good days (X120k per puppy) the ridge back by Thatcher was called Madiba. It arrived from South Africa on the birthday of Mandela
The Second Harlequin Great Dane was named after Queen Amina… But the fiercest of my odds were Chaka, IBB AND Abacha.
They took no prisoners. In fact, if I gave you anything I had used before, like shoes or clothes,my advice is not to wear them to my home. Because if Chaka, or Abacha caught a whiff of that item on you… You will not like yourself.
They were my trusted securities and my friend. One time in LEKKI, 1997 or so, a guy scaled the fence into my compound in the night. I was woken up to a shouts of “Oga come o!!!!!”
“Oga I am finished!” And Usman my maiguard was having a good laugh. At 2am! The petty thief was on the roof of my V-Boot. I was more scared for his life than he was of it. Because then we had Chaka, Ghadaffi and Clinton. Those who new these dogs will testify to their brutality.
Go ask@basorge_tariah and@officialbunmidavies… But with hind sight now, I am just thanking God. Yes oooo! O have to thank God ooo. That it was not now, that I named my dogs after any sitting president and foreign leaders.
In fact, Obasanjo himself was very impressed years later when his friend that brought me a gift from Baba, told him how a dog called OBJ in Ali Baba’s house nearly killed him.
Baba used to warn my wife then, that if she ever decided to have a dog meal, she should not touch OBJ…
But then again, OBJ had a different kind of personality and a high sense of humor. Everyone can not be the same. So I understand. An that is all I have to say.

Trump calls for special prosecutor to investigate Clinton Foundation

Trump calls for special prosecutor to investigate Clinton Foundation

AKRON, Ohio (Reuters) - Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump urged the Justice Department on Monday to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate if donors to the Clinton Foundation got special treatment from the State Department when it was run by his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton.
Trump made the appeal at a rally before thousands of cheering supporters in Akron, Ohio, as he tries to rebound from a slide in national opinion polls with little more than two months to go until the Nov. 8 election.
Trump accused former President Bill Clinton and his wife of turning the Clinton Foundation charity into a "pay-for-play" scheme in which wealthy donors, foreign and domestic, got favors from the State Department during Hillary Clinton's 2009-2013 tenure as the country's top diplomat.
Trump faulted both the Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation for not indicting Clinton over her use of a private email server as secretary of state. FBI Director James Comey cited her careless handling of classified emails but opted not to prosecutor her.
"The Justice Department is required to appoint a special prosecutor because it has proved to be, sadly, a political arm of the White House," Trump said. "Nobody has ever seen anything like it before."
Trump's appeal came the same day a conservative watchdog group, Judicial Watch, released 725 pages of State Department documents, including some it said were examples of preferential treatment provided to donors at the request of former Clinton Foundation executive Douglas Band.
Trump's call for an independent investigation followed an announcement by the Clinton Foundation that it would no longer accept foreign donations should Clinton be elected president.
The Clinton campaign fired back at Trump, saying the foundation had already laid out "the unprecedented steps the charity will take if Hillary Clinton becomes president."
Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta said in a statement that Trump "needs to come clean with voters about his complex network" of businesses that are in debt to big banks, including the state-owned Bank of China, after a New York Times report on the subject.
"Donald Trump should stop hiding behind fake excuses and release his tax returns and immediately disclose the full extent of his business interests," Podesta said.
    SEEKING TO EXPAND BASE
While keeping up the attack on Clinton, Trump in his speech also outlined some agenda items, as Republicans have been urging him to do for months. The more disciplined Trump followed a campaign shake-up last week that brought in veteran pollster Kellyanne Conway as campaign manager.
But in a sign that organizational challenges remain, Trump canceled a rally planned for later this week in Las Vegas and postponed an immigration speech in Denver.
Earlier on Monday, Trump insisted he was not "flip-flopping" on immigration, despite a comment by Conway on Sunday that his plan to deport 11 million illegal immigrants was still under review.
In his Akron remarks, Trump, struggling to broaden his support beyond the white working-class voters who have been his base of support, again urged blacks and Hispanics to give him a chance, saying: "What the hell do you have to lose?" repeating a line he delivered on Friday that was criticized by Clinton as "ignorant."
Trump said Democratic politicians had not been able to stem crime and poverty in inner cities despite pledges to do every election year.
"I say it and I'm going to keep saying it and some people say: 'Wow that makes sense' and some people say: 'That's not very nice,'" Trump said. "And I say it with such a deep-felt feeling, what do you have to lose? We’ll bring jobs back. We’ll bring spirit back. We'll get rid of the crime."

10 Truly Disgusting Facts About Ancient Roman Life

Ancient Rome holds a mythic place in our imaginations. It’s the land of historical epics like Ben-Hur and Gladiator, where men in golden armor ride chariots and emperors are fed grapes in reclining chairs. Real life in Rome, though, was quite a bit less glamorous. In a time before modern sanitation and medicine, getting through an average day was a difficult task—and far more disgusting than you could ever imagine. 10 People Washed Their Mouths Out With Urine In ancient Rome, pee was such big business that the government had special taxes in place just for urine sales. There were people who made their living just from collecting urine. Some would gather it at public urinals. Others went door-to-door

Hillary Clinton Tells Jimmy Kimmel She's 'Embarrassed' by 'Boring' Emails

Hillary Clinton took on two controversial topics in a late-night interview on ABC's 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' on Monday.
First, Kimmel quizzed the Democratic presidential candidate about news that broke earlier in the day of the release of additional emails from the time she served as secretary of state.
"The state department said that they have to release 15,000 emails by the deadline is a couple of days before the debate," Kimmel said. "Are you concerned about that?"
"No," Clinton responded. "Jimmy my emails are so boring. And I’m embarrassed about that. They’re so boring. So we’ve already released, I don’t know, 30,000 plus so what’s a few more."
When Kimmel asked Clinton about the rumors swirling about her health, she offered up her hand and said "take my pulse."
Kimmel agreed as Clinton explained "to make sure I’m alive." That's when Kimmel took her hand and gasped telling the audience "oh my god there’s nothing there."
Clinton played off Kimmel's words, implying that the stories are baseless. "With every breath I take, I feel like it's a new lease on life," Clinton quipped sarcastically.
Last week during a speech about terrorism, Donald Trump said the former secretary of state “lacks the mental and physical stamina to take on” ISIS. Trump also went after the length of Clinton's speeches, saying she'd rather "go back home and go to sleep."
Donald Trump surrogate Rudy Giuliani continued that attack on Fox News Sunday when he told the audience to “go online and put down Hillary Clinton Illness and take a look at the videos for yourself.”
Clinton called the Republican nominee's health attack a "wacky strategy" and chalked it up to the "crazy things," said by Trump and his allies.
"It absolutely makes no sense," Clinton said. "I don’t go around questioning Donald Trump's health. I mean as far as I can tell, he’s as healthy as a horse."
At one point during the interview, Kimmel asked Clinton to open a jar of pickles to prove how healthy she is.
The two also discussed how the former former first lady was preparing to debate the billionaire businessman.
Clinton told the late-night host "I’m planning on drawing off my experiences from elementary school.”

Runtown Dragged To Court By Record Label, EricMany

    runtown
Fast rising act, Runtown has been dragged to court by his record lable Ericmany. The full press release from EricMany states:
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has slammed an injunction against the rising musical artiste Douglas Jack-Agu aka “Runtown“. The injunction prevents him from performing at any event or any form of recording for the time being unless with the approval of Ericmany Limited.
Runtown is signed under the Ericmany Entertainment label that presently holds the copyright to all his music. He was sued in the Federal High Court by Ericmany on allegations that he signs up, concludes and attends musical shows without the knowledge of the label.
Ericmany Entertainment was said to have invested millions of naira on Runtown. However trouble started when Runtown apparently with the connivance of Bug Mediaran by one Bugwu Aneto began to sideline Ericmany and collected money directly for shows without the knowledge of Ericmany. Bug Media is also a party to the court case.
In another twist of events, the management of Ericmany has sacked the said Bugwu Aneto as General Manager of the company for infractions which might not be unconnected with his alleged connivance with Runtown to shortchange the Label Ericamany.
Our reporter learnt that all inquiries about the artiste and bookings for shows would no longer be through Aneto but through the management of Ericmany.
It is not clear how the young artiste is reacting to the court case and injunction. Observers suggest he was misled by Bugwu, the former General Manager of Ericmany to ditch his boss and benefactor Ericmany, and may now that the chips are down find ways to go back and reconcile with the Ericmany.
See below copies of the court injunction served to him:

Real Madrid Transfer News: Neymar Sr. Addresses Los Blancos Speculation
    Manu Fernandez/Associated Press
Neymar's father has all but ruled out the possibility of the Barcelona star ever making the move to rivals Real Madrid after claiming such a switch "would end his image."
Joaquim Piera of Spanish daily Sport provided quotes from Neymar Sr., who compared the rivalry between Corinthians and his son's former club, Santos, with that of Real and Barcelona: "Neymar could never go to Corinthians because it would end his career, for the fact that his image was built at Santos and with the titles he won with the club. It's the same now if he went to Real Madrid."
    Francisco Seco/Associated Press
Neymar is reportedly set to sign a new Barcelona contract.
According to Piera, Neymar Sr. made the address at the Parliamentary Inquiry Commission (CPI) while addressing the current state of Brazilian football, which was nationally televised in his native Brazil.
The report coincided with ongoing reports that Neymar is set to pen an extension at the Camp Nou, and the Mirror's Ed Malyon recently reinforced the notion he'll soon sign new terms with the Spanish champions:
Keeping the 24-year-old at the club undoubtedly sits as one of Barca's highest priorities at present, and Piera added the forward is "happy, and he feels valued in the Catalan capital."
It's little wonder Neymar is so treasured by this season's Primera Division and Copa del Rey double-winners, considering the creative powerhouse he's become since moving to Europe in 2013, as detailed by Squawka:

Nigeria: Niger Delta Avengers Threaten 'Bloody' Attacks as Buhari Plans Visit

A militant group in the Niger Delta has issued a renewed threat to international oil companies as Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari reportedly plans a visit to the troubled region.
The Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), which has carried out a series of crippling attacks on oil pipelines and facilities in the region, issued a statement on Monday warning companies based in the region—including Dutch giants Shell and U.S. firm Chevron—that “it’s going to be bloody this time around.” “Your facilities and personnel will bear the brunt of our fury, which shall fall upon you like a whirling wind,” said the statement, attributed to NDA spokesman Mudoch Agbinibo.
Subscribe now - Free phone/tablet charger worth over $60 Buhari vowed on Sunday that he was ready to engage with leaders in the region, which also saw a sustained period of militancy in the mid-2000s led by armed groups protesting what they saw as the unfair distribution of Nigeria’s oil wealth. The Nigerian president said that the recent attacks would not distract his government and that security forces would “apprehend the perpetrators and their sponsors and bring them to justice.”
Buhari is planning to visit Ogoniland, a region in the Niger Delta damaged by years of oil spills, on Thursday to launch a clean-up program, an unnamed Nigerian official told Reuters. A spokesman for the president confirmed to Newsweek that the visit is going ahead without providing further details. It will be the first time Buhari has been to the Niger Delta since his inauguration in May 2015.
The NDA came to Nigeria’s attention in February after it claimed an attack on an underwater pipeline at Shell’s Forcados terminal in the Niger Delta—which produces 250,000 barrels per day (bpd)—temporarily taking the facility offline. The group has stated its aim is to cripple the Nigerian economy and appears to have links to the pro-Biafra movement, which wants to establish an independent state of Biafra in southeast Nigeria. Biafra existed as a republic between 1967 and 1970, when it was reintegrated into Nigeria following a bloody civil war. The NDA has frequently called for the release of pro-Biafra activist Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, who has been detained by Nigerian security forces since October 2015 on charges of treasonable felony, which he denies.
Mainly as a result of the upsurge in attacks, Nigeria’s oil production has decreased by 800,000 bpd to around 1.4 million bpd, dropping the West African country behind Angola as the continent’s largest oil producer.

Nigeria accounts for one in every eight child deaths globally. Every single day the country loses more than 2,000 children under-five to diseases, while 158 Nigerian women die from pregnancy or childbirth related illnesses.

Despite being Africa's biggest economy, Nigeria proportionately spends very little on the health of its citizens and is failing to meet its promises on health spending made in the Abuja Declaration 15 years ago.

President Buhari and the Nigerian government have the power to change this. The government needs to ensure implementation of the National Health Act, including more resources and better spending to ensure all Nigerians, including the poorest, are able to access health care.

By taking action we can help save millions of lives and create a more healthy, prosperous and secure nation. Together we can Make Naija Stronger.

Tell the Nigerian government to invest lifesaving funds and prioritise the most marginalised, especially girls and women.
