BET Awards 2016: Falz nominated as Best New International Act

Nigerian singer, Falz has just been unveiled as a nominee for the 2016 BET Awards Viewers’ Choice in the ‘Best New International Act’ category.
He battles other talented up-and-coming artists from around the world including: Emtee (South Africa), MHD (France), Tkay Maidza (Australia), WSTRN (UK) and Section Boyz (UK).
Voting for the Viewer’s Choice category is now open, and will close on June 22, 2016.
Hosted by Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, the 2016 BET Awards will witness performances by Alicia Keys, Maxwell and more, as well as a star-studded tribute to legendary pop icon Prince featuring Sheila E.,The Roots, D’Angelo and Janelle Monae.
The BETAwards will take place along with the BET Experience at L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles from 23-26 June 2016 and it’ll premiere on BET (DStv channel 129) on Tuesday June 28, 2016 June at 19:00 CAT.

Runtown Dragged To Court By Record Label, EricMany
Fast rising act, Runtown has been dragged to court by his record lable Ericmany. The full press release from EricMany states: A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has slammed an injunction against the rising musical artiste Douglas Jack-Agu aka “Runtown“.
The injunction prevents him from performing at any event or any form of
recording for the time being unless with the approval of Ericmany Limited. Runtown
is signed under the Ericmany Entertainment label that presently holds
the copyright to all his music. He was sued in the Federal High Court by
Ericmany on allegations that he signs up, concludes and attends musical
shows without the knowledge of the label. Ericmany Entertainment was said to have invested millions of
naira on Runtown. However trouble started when Runtown apparently with
the connivance of Bug Mediaran by one Bugwu Aneto began
to sideline Ericmany and collected money directly for shows without the
knowledge of Ericmany. Bug Media is also a party to the court case. In
another twist of events, the management of Ericmany has sacked the said
Bugwu Aneto as General Manager of the company for infractions which
might not be unconnected with his alleged connivance with Runtown to
shortchange the Label Ericamany. Our reporter learnt that all inquiries about the artiste and
bookings for shows would no longer be through Aneto but through the
management of Ericmany. It is not clear how the young
artiste is reacting to the court case and injunction. Observers suggest
he was misled by Bugwu, the former General Manager of Ericmany to ditch
his boss and benefactor Ericmany, and may now that the chips are down
find ways to go back and reconcile with the Ericmany.

Real Madrid Transfer News: Neymar Sr. Addresses Los Blancos Speculation
Neymar's father has all but ruled out the possibility of the Barcelona star ever making the move to rivals Real Madrid after claiming such a switch "would end his image."
JoaquimPiera of Spanish daily Sport provided quotes from Neymar Sr., who compared the rivalry between Corinthians and his son's former club, Santos, with that of Real and Barcelona: "Neymar
could never go to Corinthians because it would end his career, for the
fact that his image was built at Santos and with the titles he won with
the club. It's the same now if he went to Real Madrid."

Neymar is reportedly set to sign a new Barcelona contract.
According to Piera, Neymar Sr. made the address at the Parliamentary

militant group in the Niger Delta has issued a renewed threat to
international oil companies as Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari
reportedly plans a visit to the troubled region. The Niger Delta Avengers (NDA),
which has carried out a series of crippling attacks on oil pipelines
and facilities in the region, issued a statement on Monday warning
companies based in the region—including Dutch giants Shell and U.S. firm Chevron—that
“it’s going to be bloody this time around.” “Your facilities and
personnel will bear the brunt of our fury, which shall fall upon you

Buhari vowed on Sunday that he was ready to engage with leaders in the region, which also saw a sustained period of militancy in the mid-2000s
led by armed groups protesting what they saw as the unfair distribution
of Nigeria’s oil wealth. The Nigerian president said that the recent
attacks would not distract his government and that security forces would
“apprehend the perpetrators and their sponsors and bring them to
justice.”
Buhari is planning to visit Ogoniland, a region in the Niger Delta
damaged by years of oil spills, on Thursday to launch a clean-up
program, an unnamed Nigerian official told Reuters. A spokesman for the president confirmed to Newsweek
that the visit is going ahead without providing further details. It
will be the first time Buhari has been to the Niger Delta since his
inauguration in May 2015.
The NDA came to Nigeria’s attention in February after it claimed an
attack on an underwater pipeline at Shell’s Forcados terminal in the
Niger Delta—which produces 250,000 barrels per day (bpd)—temporarily
taking the facility offline. The group has stated its aim is to cripple
the Nigerian economy and appears to have links to the pro-Biafra movement,
which wants to establish an independent state of Biafra in southeast
Nigeria. Biafra existed as a republic between 1967 and 1970, when it was
reintegrated into Nigeria following a bloody civil war. The NDA has
frequently called for the release of pro-Biafra activist Nnamdi Kanu,
leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, who has been detained by
Nigerian security forces since October 2015 on charges of treasonable
felony, which he denies.
Mainly as a
result of the upsurge in attacks, Nigeria’s oil production has decreased
by 800,000 bpd to around 1.4 million bpd, dropping the West African
country behind Angola as the continent’s largest oil producer.
Nigeria
accounts for one in every eight child deaths globally. Every single day
the country loses more than 2,000 children under-five to diseases,
while 158 Nigerian women die from pregnancy or childbirth related
illnesses.
Despite being Africa's biggest economy, Nigeria
proportionately spends very little on the health of its citizens and is
failing to meet its promises on health spending made in the Abuja
Declaration 15 years ago.
President Buhari and the Nigerian
government have the power to change this. The government needs to ensure
implementation of the National Health Act, including more resources and
better spending to ensure all Nigerians, including the poorest, are
able to access health care.
